The Benefits of Writing

When Mary B. Kavanagh, my great-great grandmother, wrote a love poem to her husband, Edward, she had no idea how far into the future her words would reach.  Her husband was the son of a writer who contributed to Glimpses of the Nations Struggle.  His story inspires me to follow in his footsteps.

How will your words affect the lives of others around you or the lives of people not yet born?  Consider your written words as gifts to be opened long after you depart this world.  You have the ability to change attitudes and change the course of history.  If that benefit alone does not inspire you to write every day, consider this:

How would you feel if you had the opportunity to write a life-changing message and you chose to watch TV or do something else instead?

Are you ready to write?  The world is waiting.  Maybe even a future great-great-great grandson or granddaughter.  Give them the benefit of your words.  And if you are looking for a place to publish your words, why not contribute your wisdom to the Cyber-bistro?  Email me today and I will schedule you for a guest post on cyber-guest Friday.

  1. Great piece Michael, thanks for that. I loved my exposure on cyber-bistro, hopefully other writers will realize the benefits.

  2. I often wonder what will happen with my journals after I am gone. Think I will have to "warn" by kids about them. They'll discover a lot about me in them and about so mich else too.
