Do you have a sense of humor? Does it show in your writing? If not--why not? You can transform yourself from dull and boring into a great writer if you learn to show your funny side in your characters. Make them playful. Give them a sense of humor. Make your readers laugh.
I find laughter to be a great antidote for difficult days. My grandmother on my father's side always had a joke every time I visited her. I still remember her devilish pranks. If you're having trouble putting some humor in your writing, learn to lighten up. Practice telling jokes to your friends. It's fun.
