Meg Ryan is my favorite actress. And there is one scene in City of Angels that tops my list of favorite quotes. Nicholas Cage plays an Angel who is without the ability to use any of his five senses. He asks Meg Ryan to describe what a pear tastes like:
Seth: "What's that like? What's it taste like? Describe it like Hemingway."
Maggie: "Well, it tastes like a pear. You don't know what a pear tastes like?"
Seth: "I don't know what a pear tastes like to you."
Maggie: "Sweet, juicy, soft on your tongue, grainy like a sugary sand that dissolves in your mouth. How's that?"
Seth: "It's perfect."
For me, writing gives me the same feeling Maggie describes about eating pears. It will take a life-time to be able to find the right words matching my passion for writing. For those of you reading today's message who are writing experts, please share how it feels to be a writer. Describe it like Hemingway. Thanks for joining the conversation.
I'm no writing expert so I'd find it difficult to answer your question.
ReplyDeleteAlmost as difficult as finding the words to describe my affection for Meg Ryan and her movies, which have given me so much enjoyment over the years.
Enjoy your Sunday.
Thanks for your comment, Paul. I agree with you about Meg. One of the items on my bucket list is to meet her and thank her for all the times she puts a smile on my face. She is a gifted actress and my wife and I both appreciate her talents. Have a great day.
