A Post From My Car

My lack of an Internet connection at home isn't stopping me from my daily writing commitment.  I think the folks at McDonald's were getting tired of me and the library doesn't open until 10:00 AM.  So, today I'm posting from my car in the parking lot of the outlet mall where they offer free Wi-fi.

If feels a little strange to be typing away inside my car, but it works.  I haven't tried the free Wi-fi at the rest stops along the highway yet and that's next on my list.  The rest stops in the Midwest are like mini getaways.  They are super clean and you feel like you are at a resort.

What is your craziest writing venue?  If the power went out in your home or if your cable shut down, where would you go to write?  Please add your thoughts below.

  1. My writing venues, while not always electronic and dependant on free wifi, can often be unusual. I've written on a napkin in a ski chalet at the top of the Rockies in Colorado. I've written a note to myself while driving (I know... really bad idea). I've written on receipts stuffed in the bottom of my bag when no other paper was available. When inspiration strikes, it has to come out, or I sometimes forget it. Your post reminded me of the scene in RV where the character played by Robyn Williams is trying to get his report finished and emailed to his boss. He does it on his comptuer first but can't get sufficient wifi, then he his computer is stolen, then he types it on his smart phone even while his thumbs are in pain from overuse. Funny!
