The Resourceful Writer Destroys Termites

Excuses are like termites.  They are ugly.  Many people have them and don't even know it.  If your home is loaded with excuses for not writing, it's time to tap into your resourcefulness to eliminate them the same way an exterminator destroys termites.  Here's how you can become a resourceful writer:

  1. Inspect your home for termites.  If you aren't writing every day, your home is infested with excuses.
  2. Once you admit your home is under attack, tap into your resourcefulness.  Termites can be destroyed using multiple attack strategies.  Use your imagination.
  3. Kill every termite.  One excuse left behind can soon multiply.  Every excuse must be eliminated.
  4. Seek professional help.  There are thousands of writers who figured out how to keep their homes free of excuse infestation.  Read their blog stories.  Meet them at writers conferences.  Ask them how they got rid of their termites.
  5. Practice preventive maintenance.  Termites cannot attack your home if you are focused, intentional, and willing to follow a daily writing routine.
  6. Don't allow infected guests to enter your home.  These people are so loaded with excuses that if they come into your home, soon termites will jump off of them like head lice and they will cause you harm.
Here are some common termites I've encountered.  You can use the comment section to add your own or to share how you got rid of them:

  • I'm not a good writer
  • I don't have time to write
  • Nobody reads my blog, book, etc.
  • I don't know where to begin
  • My family thinks I'm wasting my time when I write
  • Sometimes I don't feel like writing
  • I don't know where to go to get help with my writing
  • Some days I don't know what to write about
  • I get interrupted every time I sit down to write
Got any of these termites in your home?  Why not join the Cyber-bistro and pledge to begin writing every day--no excuses.  This is the no termite zone.  Every member here experiences termites.  Let's put our resourcefulness to good use and help each other battle these ugly pests.

  1. My current termite: I don't make much money writing. I get rid of this infestation by remembering that I am being obedient to the Holy Spirit's leading. That is why I write every day.
